It is so hard to see the people we elect as leaders . The American FBI has now formally established an office in Wellington.
Our leaders show they understand the art of vagueness.
Winston Peters said the new office was “a really serious utility added to our crime fighting capacity in the Pacific, and crime and drug dealing and narcotics is an awful scourge, and we’ve got to get on top of it, so it’s great news”.
He said the subject of China had not been raised in their meeting.
“We never raised that issue, we talked about the Pacific, what we could do to improve the law and order situation, the great concern that Pacific countries had and that they needed help, and that we need to be part of the solution.”
When it was pointed out to Judith Collins that the FBI media release had referred to China, Collins said: “I don’t respond to other people’s press releases.”
Deputy Prime Minister David Seymour said the US was “a long and strong friend of New Zealand” and having an FBI office “doesn’t really change that, it just strengthens the relationship”.
Our real PM seems to be missing from the dialogue. Am I surprised, are you?
Among thoughts I need more clarity on: the FBI is internal to the US, the CIA is external. So apart from China, the unspoken arch enemy who is the FBI looking at tomorrow ? Could it be US citizens in NZ? Could be NZers?
When I publicly support Gaza, as I proudly do, and then in “theory” want to go to the US, I expect that the FBI will have a little list and my name will not be missed!!!!!!!!
