Trump has one God. The ancient Greeks didn’t have just one God of War, but two of them. Ares, the male alpha God and Athene, the wise woman War God. They show us two sides of our natures.
Trump and the religious clowns who sat in the White House Oval Office touching him with reverence and sanctimonious thoughts have one idea, one philosophy. They are sure they are virtuous and right and support Trump, who like thousands of leaders before him goes to war with his one idea. Ares is his God. Ares understands destruction. The Trump legacy is dead civilians and destroyed culture in the Middle East
Ares, the God of War personifies the violent, chaotic and destructive nature of war. His “quality” is raw power, but his actions are often driven by rage and bloodlust .
Athene represents the disciplined, intelligent and just application of force. Her “quality” is the art of winning wars to establish peace and protect civilisations.Think of Athene as the smart general planning the campaign, and Ares as the soldier caught in the bloodlust of the frontline. In my mind I can think of Athene, as a female Odysseus. She understands how a Trojan Horse will work. But she is smart and caring and is credited with creating the justice system and giving practical gifts like the olive tree to humanity.
If Trump had listened to Athene as well as Ares he would have had many points of view inside his orange head. To put it in another context, look at some of the thinking of Bertrand Russell, the philosopher. Russell thought and talked about civilisation. He spoke often how we need to constantly engage in many points of view on issues that affect us and in short said that we should be skeptical about philosophies, including his own.
I don’t know of anyone who can influence Donald Trump with a touch of wisdom. This man with the orange head seems beyond that simple request. But, I for one, am holding the lid of the dustbin of history and I wait, like millions of others for him to enter and the lid to be firmly closed.
History shows that DT never had a honourable relationship with women. Bloody, bold, and angry Ares may always be with us, but Athene, wise and caring for civilisation will come back to visit us but not at this critical moment.
