The White Sari
The White Sari won an award at Krimson Horyzon International Film Festival in December 2023. It is an old story from Bengal told to me by a colleague at the The University of the South Pacific in Fiji. She vouched for its authenticity. It is set in the 20th Century when followers of Mahatma Ghandi went around India talking, persuading and sometimes acting violently to stop the population from using “Manchester”, cotton garments made in England and exported to India.
